I really like Prox-N.

I don't think you'll find alot of feedback because it's expensive, but I truly feel that Dr. Proctor's stuff is awesome.

On it's own, I'm not sure Prox-N will give you awesome results, but I do feel that it will DEFINITELY slow down your thinning and allow other products like minoxidil to work better. In fact, Dr. P initially created Prox-N to be an adjunct treatment for minoxidil.

Proxiphen-N is the OTC version of prescription strength Proxiphen.

I just read my post and it looks misleading.

I should say that prescription strength Proxiphen contains alot of things that Prox-N does not like Spiro, Phenytoin and other SOD's.

However I believe that Prox-N is still very effective.

Had some question about prox-n I hope you will answer.

1. Can put it on in the morning and wear it throughout the day? Or is it too greasy to wear during the day.

2. Does it smell? I so what does it smell like

3. Did you shed wehn you first began treatment with prox-n?

Thanks for your input

Yes, you can wear Prox-N during the day. If you applied it to dry hair, it might make it look a little greasy, but if you apply after showering to towel dried hair, it dries nicely and leaves your hair with a sort of leave-in conditioner look. In a nutshell I would say it's very user friendly.

As far as smell goes, it has a certain smell to it, but in no way is it unpleasant.

Concerning shedding, well, you might shed a bit on it, I'm not sure. To be honest, I can't really remember whether I had a shed on it or not, but I can tell you that shedding is usually a good sign and it means that regrowth will most likely follow.

What is Phenytoin and what does it do? I tried to look it up and it seems that systemically, it is an anticonvulsant if what I read is correct. I am trying to determine if the ingredients in prescription prox are worth the extra money as NOTHING else has even slowed my loss down.

Mr Moodguy

You are correct about what Phenytoin is, but apparently it has strong hair growing abilities when used topically. Lynx, a reputable poster, has reported good results after adding it to his minoxidil and Dr. P is a big believer in it. I myself haven't tried it. I'm saving it as a "last resort" type thing.

I thought prescription Prox doesn't work well because minox and sprio together in one solution don't work well when stored over a long period of time?

Sorry, but I have to chime in here. I personally have never noticed one good thing from Proxiphen-n. To each his own.

Hey Twister,

I used proxiphen for a period of a year and then on and off over 5 years or so. I used proxiphen-n for a year with nothing to report but thinner hair. Proxiphen did not do much for me either, but was better probably because of the minoxidil. I really would like to see how Proxiphen fairs without the minoxidil in there.

I did respond well from minoxidil in the past, but it was mostly short lived. Propecia worked great for me, but I had to stop using it after about 8 months because I had some bad side effects. That really sucks.

I just really don't think Proctor's stuff is all that it is cracked up to be by some on these boards. There seems to be only a handful that respond to his treatment. I hope it is different for you.

I forgot to mention that I have also seen significant results from a product called Adenogen. I have seen my hair thicken up quite a bit with the use of this product and plan on given it a full year run.
